Values & Mission
A Mission Statement
Living Stone Church is CONNECTING PEOPLE…
to God
to each other
to the world
We feel a connection to God through Jesus Christ is the most important connection people can make.
Of second most importance is a genuine connection with other people. We experience a desire to be connected in a group of people where there is a sense of belonging and mutual sharing.
Finally, we believe Christians need to be connected to the world, for the good of the world. We embrace our Reformed belief to engage and improve our culture.
We feel God has called everyone to be active in the world in compassion and service.
Hospitable
Welcoming each other as God has welcomed us
We believe patterning our lives after Jesus Christ and being shaped into living stones means embracing all people as created in God’s image. Jesus was a welcoming presence; there were no social boundaries that Jesus was not willing to cross. Living Stone Church is becoming a people where all feel the love of Jesus Christ and the comfort of home.
Authentic
Living and loving openly and honestly
We desire that Living Stone Church would be made up of real people – no pretenses, no pretending, no put-on perfection. Living Stone Church is becoming a people able to share our vulnerabilities, let our guard down, and admit our weaknesses to God and to each other.
Missional
Serving our world, our community, and each other
The Church does not exist for itself; the Church exists to glorify God and further God’s kingdom in the world. We do not draw into ourselves, but we ‘go and make disciples’ as Jesus asks of us. Living Stone Church is becoming a people living in the world as humble servants, demonstrating through our love that we are followers of Christ.
Holistic
Living responsibly with all the good things God has made
God is the Creator; and everything God has created is good. Therefore all aspects of our lives belong to God – our work, our relationships, our bodies, our world, our recreation, our finances, our hoping and dreaming. Living Stone Church is becoming a people who honor God by living responsibly in all aspects of everyday life.
